Open Beta & Demo

The Mortal Shell II Open Beta launched June 5, 2026 as a free single-player demo covering roughly the opening three hours. It includes nine Steam achievements and selected launch rewards, but most inventory and progression do not carry into the full game.

What the beta includes

The beta runs from the Prologue into the first explorable region, including Shell possession, optional dungeons, hidden mini-bosses, Beacons, Marrow Keep, and progression toward Magdalena.

Beta achievements

Steam lists nine achievements for the Open Beta, including objectives tied to completing the beta, reaching Marrow Keep, claiming Tiel, and cleansing Beacons. This beta achievement set should not be confused with the full game achievement list.

What carries over

The Flayed Harbinger cosmetic can be unlocked for the full game. Players who progress beyond Marrow Keep can unlock the option to skip the Prologue. Currency, weapons, Shells, collectibles, and most beta progress reset at launch.

Demo platforms

The verified Steam listing describes a free PC demo. PlayStation also lists a free Open Beta item. Availability may change after the August 20, 2026 launch.
